I can guarantee you that if you chose to ship your Kobo back to them, it will not take 4-6 weeks. The longest mine ever took was 2 weeks - and that was only because there was a mix-up with the return shipping address. I've had them take as little as 3 days from the time I sent it out, until it was back in my hands.
I had 6 units shipped and received and the customer support (I just did it through help.kobo.com) was fantastic. Quick and accurate. My replacements from the warehouse...that's totally separate.

For my final exchange they actually shipped my brand new WiFi first, and after receiving it, I could send my old one back.
If you're like me and read a book every week (or less) then I know how painful it is to be without it - but you'll be so much happier without having to always see/feel the defect that the time apart is worth it!
