From what we have seen so far of the hardware problems caused by upgrading to 2.2, I think any up clocking will kill a lot of components.
There are many reasons, other than heat generated, to underclock the CPU, one of them being lower quality components can be used and they will still work.
Without the manufacturing specs it is impossible to say exactly what would happen by up clocking but it would, most probably, be bad, as in killing the unit.
