I too would like to have a Kindle app for e-mail. Don't listen too much to those who say that "this is not what Kindle is intended for". Because Kindle as a hardware and software kernel is perfectly capable for this task. It even has a web browser.
The only problem is that there is no adequate software or service that is optimized for Kindle e-ink screen. However, e-ink is not a disadvantage, it is actually a reason why some would like to read e-mail on it.
