Hi Manju and welcome to Mobileread.

The PRS-300 is a great little ereader!

If you wish to read purchased DRM protected ePUB's, then you will need to install Adobe Digital editions software on your PC to ensure your PRS-300 is registered to use ADE DRM.

As the PRS-300 default ebook format is ePUB, you can purchase an ePUB ebook from a variety of ebook estores such as Kobo, Smashwords (no DRM), Diesel etc. So really the Sony Reader software is not a necessary suite to install.

Calbre is a great program perfect for keeping your ebook collection organised and to transfer your ebooks (even DRM protected ones) to your PRS-300.

With both my PRS-300 and PRS-650, I get excellent battery life just switching them onto standby and not switching them off entirely.

Hope that helps you.
