Are you comparing the Story to the Story, or Story to Story HD. Right now in the US, the Story seems to be selling for about $250-300 USD. The iRiver website sold them for $369 USD, before they clearanced them out. From what I've seen, the Story sells in Australia for $378 AUD, which works out to be $401 USD. I really wouldn't call it that big of a difference. Now, granted that the Story HD is supposed to sell in the US for $140, they've dropped the price quite a bit on the new generation.

Also, the Story HD isn't set to be sold in Australia for another month yet. iRiver is launching it in Oceania in August. Pricing hasn't been set yet, but it should be comparible to the US price tag. Also, the Story HD WILL include Google Books support in Australia. The only snag is that Google Books Australia hasn't launched yet, so if you want to use Google Books before that happens (Which, Google says it is in the works), you will need a US google account.
