But I totally agree that the Asus Eee Note is perhaps the only under $300 device right now that's intended to be a writer first, and reader second, and if the OP wanted to save those notes, and/or store ebooks or have a basic wifi connection, that's what I'd recommend looking into. There's also the need to be at least a little bit comfortable modding it, as most devices right now display a Chinese language and need to be converted to English. And the fact that it's not really selling outside of Taiwan, and even most eBay devices will originate from there. (Just adds to shipping expenses, difficulty dealing with returns, transit times, customs/duty...)
