Royal Canin pet foods are very high quality - and can be pricey. They make consumer lines & specialty lines only available from your vet. The kidney diet kept my old cat going for many years. They make dry kibble and wet gravy products.

For dental health, and to help with vomiting/diarrhea problems, dry kibble should be in the diet. Cats don't really need soft foods - they just tend to prefer it if given a choice. I've fed cats all their lives just on kibble.
