If you want good PDF support, buy a Kobo Touch - it offers pan, zoom, and landscape support. and performance is reasonable. Their browser is also usable for simple tasks, unlike the K3 and NT.

I have both Nook Touch and K3 (and tested a K-DX-G), and PDF support on all three of them is horrible - unusable, IMHO.
