Donations of eBooks wouldn't have to work that way.

*I donate an eBook to my Library via Overdrive. I do not download the eBook.
*Library accepts donation and put the eBook on my bookshelf in my Overdrive Account. I have 14 days to read the book.
*At the end of 14 days my check-out expires and my file won't open.
*Library then makes the eBook available for general check-out.
