lol....Indeed, good to know. But man, this is Hong Kong, not China. You'd figure a century of British rule would have had some lasting impact in this area.
I hyperbolize of course. Most people here are polite, sometimes exceedingly so. But that happens to be one of those things that irritate me. When it happens, I look them right in the face and loudly say [in Canto or English, whichever I feel applies]:
You're Welcome!

Pretty much zero ATM courtesy in much of HK, especially outside of places with a heavy foreign presence. The concept of minimum ATM space is apparently unknown here. I have learned to deal with it of course, but 18 years ago when I first encountered it, I actually turned around to the old lady standing directly behind me and said in Canto:
"Hey, do you want me to take out some money for you too???!?!"
She looked at me like I was from Mars... lol
