Magazines and Newspapers on the Kobo Touch
As this is my first post here, let me say thanks in advance for all the help I have gotten by reading these forums. I have a Sony Reader (PRS 600), Motorola Xoom, and Ipod touch, all of which I have used for ebooks. I have used calibre in Windows and Ubuntu to add magazines and newspapers to my Sony Reader.
I bought a Kobo touch yesterday because it has such a nice screen (Pearl eInk) and also has Wifi capabilities. I have looked at the Sony products because I like the touch feature on my current Sony Reader. The Kobo touch looked like it had it all, great screen, touch interface, great price. I have been buying books from Kobo for over a year now for my Sony.
Anyway, I was looking forward to buying magazines or newspapers for the Kobo Touch eReader. Everything I have read says that this is a supported feature.
I bought a subscription to a magazine last night. I synced through the desktop app on Windows, I synced the device using wifi while disconnected from the computer, tried each several times. No magazine shows up on the device. When I navigate to the Library, News & Mags section, the screen is the one that directs me to go to the kobo website to purchase subscriptions or get free trials.
I spoke to Kobo customer support a few times, and most recently they had me do a factory reset. When I connected the reader to the computer to do the setup, everything seemed to go ok, and my books were synced to the reader. When I look on the desktop app, it shows 3 subscriptions (the one I bought yesterday, and 2 other free trials I got today), When I sync the desktop app (without the touch connected), it tells me that it is downloading the two free trials, but then when I connect the touch to the computer and sync again, nothing is transferred. And if I sync the touch using wifi, it syncs my awards and other reading life stuff, but no magazines.
Am I doing something wrong?
