We have three on one account [six devices... my K3, my daughter's K3SO, my girlfriend's K3SO, my phone, and two PCs used by me]. I turned off the last page synchronization features (didn't use it much anyhow) because my daughter and I were both reading the same book at the same time. Also, I don't think that there's a straightforward way to reset the last page read to the beginning of the book when the next person starts reading it.

My wife and I have turned off the sync, although we rarely ever read the same book at once anyway. The biggest problem we have is that sharing the same account can screw up the recommendations feature since we probably only read the same book 5% of the time.
As for going back to the beginning, it is usually as easy as using the menu to "Go To The Beginning". It may not be automatic, but it works easy enough.
