See, that's one of the beauties of open source software. It only dies if people let it die. If I was a commercial company and I suddenly decided to stop working on Sigil, you'd be screwed with no recourse. But Sigil is OSS, and you can always just take the original source code and continue development on your own.

I know of at least one Chinese company that is distributing it's own modified version of Sigil (for free). They tailored it to a Chinese audience since I didn't provide a translation framework in their desired timeframe. Frankly I think that's awesome, and it's the whole point of OSS.

If you lack the programming skills but have the resources, you can hire someone to work on Sigil full time (just not me, I'm taken). They don't even need to become the official maintainer to contribute; whoever does become the maintainer would certainly welcome any help they can provide (I know I would).
