I'm the thread starter here ... I was hoping for an easy solution

But I have a Kindle 3 as well as a new nook and I can tell you that the collections are much easier to manage on the kindle. Mainly due to the sort-by-date on the kindle ... all new books appear in a group and they it's easy to select them one-by-one and put them in a collection, or select a collection and page to the "new" stuff and add it.

One question still open is: Is there an advantage to be had if I root my nook in this dept?
