Ahh well this would explain my ol'grans "Kankles" she would have eaten that everyday I suppose, we did eat a lot of the same things when I was a kid. The bacon I think is likely back bacon, very good and worthy of being blamed for the end of many people, but you only live once and back bacon should be consumed at least a few time in life
