Hi and welcome at MR, frog67!

This is mostly because Sony Reader-Library-Prog. is available for Windozw and Mac, and some DLL's for communication with the reader are only available for this OS'es too.

BTW:The reader itself runs a monta-vista linux, the reader-apps and the whole GUI is based on the kinoma-FSK-framework
