Last time I was using a Kindle, it didn't even have collections. (I had the K1 and wasn't too happy with it.) After that, I used Bookeen Opus where you can create multi-level folders to drag and drop your book files. It wasn't a "shelves" concept; but showed the folder structure of how you stored your files. I used the Opus for 2 years. I just switched to the Nook Simple Touch over the weekend. I like that Nook has a dictionary for the ePub, which Opus doesn't have. And since Nook can do the same drag and drop concept storing at the multi-level folder structure (through SD card), I'm happy with it.

I'm not sure if the K3 has a collections concept since I stopped looking into amazon readers after the K1.
