I haven't read the whole thread, so I apologize if this questions has been answered already. Why has Amazon created this two-tiered class of Kindle customers? Those who bought their kindles (like me) before the SO kindle came out feel a little short changed.

Some of these offers seem very attractive. $10 for a $20 gift card, that's a no-brainer. But because I supported the product earlier than some, I'm not eligible. Seems like Amazon could have an opt-in feature for folks like me.
