As for drinking hot tea when it's hot... that's standard practice in all the desert countries around the world! Hot sweet tea is the usual drink in the Middle East on hot days.
Personally, I prefer an Ice Tea from Starbucks...

I prefer a nice cup of hot tea during hot days as well. I always feel hotter if I'm drinking something cold. Maybe because you're cooling your insides off, your body decides to lose less heat and keep it inside to warm your inside up again? And if you drink something hot, your body will lose more heat to the outside because your inside is already nice and warm...
