Given that you are a self-declared "Apple Hater" I'm a little surprised that you bought the book from iBooks. Had you bought it from any other ePub bookstore, you would have had no trouble whatsoever reading it anywhere that you chose. Why choose to buy from iBooks, and be locked in?
