Once upon a time, while waiting for a bus, I admired the "spool" another passenger was using for her earbud cord. She replied, "Go to a yarn shop, and ask for a package of 'spools' for keeping track of different color yarns (on the same project)." I did so (after finally finding the local yarn shop that had recently relocated!), and purchased a bagful (half dozen I think).

Attached are photos of my mobile phone charger, which also works for my e-reader, and the sync cord that came in the box with my Sony 650. The spools themselves are clear plastic, so unfortunately don't photograph very well (with my crummy webcam).
