I was 10 then, now I'm 22. I just NOW this last month finally tore all my posters and stuff off the wall to paint it.
This franchise WASN'T Twilight, Eragon, or A Series of Unfortunate Events which probably have loads of bought copies sitting in boxes or at a Half Priced Books. There used to be thousands upon thousands of fan sites. And most of us have easily spent $500,000+ supporting it for the last ten plus years it's been strong. It's a very, very, VERY strong community of intelligent people, not just a bunch of teenagers obsessed with Edward/Robert P.
A lot of us are really excited for Pottermore, but if it ends up being just a shop with stuff we already have, what was the point? We want an encyclopedia, NOT more special editions. And it's more important that she's catering to her EXISTING fanbase and not try and gain new readers. We're the ones keeping this alive.

I understand, I think that in the annuls of time, Harry Potter will continue to be fondly remembered. 50 years from now, Twilight and the others won't be known, but HP will still be kickin much like the Chronicles of Narnia, and Lord of the Rings. Even still, for as active as the community is, and for as hard core as people get for HP, various turns of events as people age will cause it so people will no longer have easy access to their original copies and end up buying new again. It is also one of those book series, that people will want to buy again, instead of going "Oh, I remember that, was kinda neat" like they will for the books you mentioned.
Pottermore will be more than just a store. As it stands now, JKR has written 18,000 new words for the site, and it is still months away from launching, and when it will launch it won't even have extras for books 2-7. Sorcerer's Stone was in the neighborhood of 75,000 words. Plus all the new art that has been commissioned, etc.
