Reselection, however shows the choice "rename xxxx" in which the changed tagname is visible.

The "Manage Tags" option, however, works so that's what I am using now.
You may have an early Windows build of 8.7.
Uninstall
Delete the instal file that you previously downloaded.
Go get a fresh copy of 8.7 (or wait till tomorrow for 8.8 )
