Oops, never mind. I see that it was just a warning that Calibre was giving me about already having a book with that title, not some kind of error. In actuality it does seem to import the blog or magazine with the date set correctly.
This will definitely make replacing the old Kindle easier since I can now move old blogs and magazines to the new one without concern about losing anything.
