I have my screen timeout set to 5 minutes. If I do as described here, the nook touch shows the unlock animation for 5 minutes, and then goes to sleep.

This is consistent with my Android phone, where my screen timeout is 30 seconds. If I wake my phone up, and press a key (but do not unlock it), the screen remains on for 30 seconds, and then goes back to sleep.

Could the OP have had the timeout in his/her touch set to 1 hour maybe?
