I've switched to the iPad. It is heavier and harder to read in bright sun. But in all other respects, it is a much better reading experience. I like the color. I like the screen size. I love the dictionary. It is easy to get books onto the device (even if I don't buy them through Apple).
The ipad is horrible for reading books, the main purpose of a dedicated ereader. The type is unsharp and jaggy around the edges, it is much too heavy for longer periods of reading, the kindle is clearly better or let's say fantastic. The ipad excells with pdfs and magazines (just talking about reading).
To clarify my criticism, i'm an apple fanboy and i really like the ipad but not for reading. By the way the iphone4 is the much better choice for books because of the great display.
