I can only repeat that screens do NOT break spontaneously; they break because you've either twisted or applied pressure to a point on the screen. Perhaps inadvertently, but that's the way it happens. Get a decent case and you'll be absolutely fine. I've owned more eInk devices than I can remember over the years, and have never had a problem. A case is absolutely essential!
