For the RAM reason among others, we have left multitasking and fast-task switching disabled on the 2G. I have Backgrounder in case we need it, and I have an SBSettings toggle to free up RAM should it ever be needed.
I'll bank the extra $75 and put it toward the next upgrade...they will only get cheaper, after all. At $175, I'd be getting awfully close to the $210 that an 8GB 4G costs new on Amazon. 8GB is proving to be perfectly adequate storage for loads of apps and a few movies and albums.
If I wanted one for my own full media library, I'd have to go to 32GB or more, but neither my wife nor my daughter are using more than 3 or 4 GBs currently.
