As I said, all the apps we wanted except one work just fine, so I think she's good for now, but clearly upcoming iOS 5 apps will be impossible.
When 4G (or upcoming 5G?) units are down to <$100, I'll consider upgrading. When that happens, I'll probably get one for myself. I feel weird sneaking my daughter's iPod out of her nightstand while she sleeps to play Angry Birds.
I installed some hacks on this 2G that have made it even easier for her to use than the 4G, so it's working out well for her.
