I rang Sony and they were really helpful. The first guy told me to uninstall and reinstall the Reader Library software. That didn't work.

The second guy went away and spoke to the 'tech people' who said the only reason they could think that it wouldn't be working was because the computer was operating in 64-bit mode. He told me how to restart the computer in 32-bit mode (hold down 3 and 2 buttons while computer is turning on) and everything has worked beautifully since, with the Reader now showing up in Reader Library and DRM items now able to be moved from the computer to the reader. So problem solved.

Thanks to everyone who suggested solutions. I hope this information will help someone.
To be honest I feel this is not a genuine solution, just a fudge by the Sony tech guys.

I have two Sony Readers and two computers with Reader Library installed on them and they both work perfectly. AND they are both running 64 bit Windows (Windows 7 and Vista), and I'm sure there must be countless others out there running Reader Library perfectly with 64 bit operating systems.

So whilst this may have solved your problem (and I'm very pleased for you) this is not the real answer.
