I'd say Pride & Prejudice still rings much closer to us than most super-hero comic books. Heck, even the Iliad is much close in themes to us than most super-hero comic books. Why? Because they are centered around common human dramas and human weaknesses, even though they too might have fantasy elements as background. Super-hero comic books usually focus on countless variations of "super folks try to get on with normal lives while getting beaten by super baddies until finally prevailing" and that's about it -- save one Alan Moore here, a Frank Miller there.

Calvin is much too awesome either way.
