Yes. Of course if PDF has some kind of table of contents. The PDF i tried had that and i was able to browse to the section i want. Of course this is with Duokan. Original kindle firmware doesn't have that.
I haven't tested any chm yet so i can't say anything for it.
The zoom is very easy with Duokan. You can choose the level with 10 percent increase and decrease. Also there is an option which i really like that lets you choose the margins of the page. This way you can cut the margins and zoom to the content. This info is saved for each pdf so you don't have to do that each time you open the book.
There is also a smart layout option which is PDF reflow. I haven't used it much as my PDFs sometimes contain non-Latin characters and this mode doesn't support them.
I was a kindle 3 user and upgraded to kindle DX just for being able to read PDFs better. With kindle 3 firmware on kindle DX and duokan, i am very satisfied with the results
