I believe he bought the Kobo Wifi rather than the touch, so in theory they should be on it. However since he didn't want them anyway, I guess he can treat the fact they aren't as a bonus .

By rights you should be able to connect via the Wifi on that unit and get all the updates you need. I could be wrong, but I can't remember anything with the Wifi version that would mean you had to use the Kobo Desktop.

EDIT: you were replying as I posted I guess. Try updating your library a few times and it should come. They still seem to be having some issues with pushing it 100% of the time on a refresh.
