From what I've read on the internet, the latest software for the standard Kindle 3 is 3.1 and version 3.2.1 is only for the new Kindle 3 with ads, being called KSO, I think, for Kindle Special Offer.

If you google for "Kindle 3 version 3.2.1" you can get more links to read. Most seem to be about using jailbreak with the KSO.
