my mom is now 61. she has a shiny new droid phone, that she can answer, and maybe call you back if she misses the call. (i dont bother with leaving VM though - she never gets em)
there are 3 or 4 laptops, and a desktop or 2 in her house - but she doesn't have an email account. seriously. my little brother (35 going on 14 - long story) is the onsite tech - but he knows "just enough to be dangerous". seems i spend a lot of time reinstalling windows - cause i really don't try to fix what he has broken anymore.
my mom has a Kobo with about 2k books on it - well it did, till my brother started f-ing around with memory cards, and corrupted the 4gb that went in it. her laptop has a 9k+ book calibre library. she also has a generic 7" tabreaderlet thing - color screen junk. my brother reads on his phone - but he is a "bury the nose in it" reader - horrible eyesight, and reads w/o his glasses.
Mom is a nurse in a long term rehab facility. they had a really good aide that was leaving, that they traded DTB's with for years. everyone chipped in and got her a kobo and a 4gb card, and mom loaded it full. the aide ended up staying.
so, i guess i am like her tier 3 support. i fix what the helpdesk makes worse. just like at work
