Call us crazy, but my wife and I prefer to keep things simple. We have, at any given time, about 5-8 ebooks stored on our Kindles. We have a collection called 'Books', which holds all of these except for the one book we're actively reading; the actively read book is omitted from any collection so that it appears on the home screen for easy access, along with any daily news subscriptions.

We also have separate collections for apps, music, audiobooks and finally a collection titled 'Reference' which holds the dictionaries, Project Gutenberg magic catalogue, Kindle manual and advanced shortcuts guide.

This 'system' allows us to view everything on a single home screen page, while still providing us with a range of reading material on the off-chance that we don't feel like reading our regular novel(s).

Ebooks which have been read, or remain to be read, are stored on the PC and backed up regularly with other household files. It may just be me, but I can't imagine why anyone would wish to keep two or three thousands ebooks on their device at all times.
