The card is a standard 2Gb SDcard (sandisk) like this one:

Also I make sure the diagonal corner of the card is in the left-lower corner....

Nope - you've got it back to front. It goes in with the "front" of the SD card facing AWAY from the front of the CyBook; ie with the diagonal cutout in the lower RIGHT corner.

There is some "resistance" from the spring that pushes the card out again; you need to push the card a little below the top of the socket before it "locks" into position.
