Why are we automatically assuming that he's out to break the law and finding the big nerf bats?
Yes there's sites, also torrent sites with great current books and authors that most of us would want to read.
Baen was pointed out, Gutenberg, Obooko, freefictions and here. There's also a filesharing site that specializes in DRM free books from the public domain.
While the poster may have wanted a free ride or not, why not take the opportunity as others in this thread to point people towards some of the many lovely free ressources on the net, while fighting against copyright lobbiest being able to continually extending the copyrights.
