Do I think that's a good initiative? Certainly. But why call it a 'library', if not to blow smoke in the eyes of donors?
I personally think that public libraries exist to promote literacy within the community, particularly in a way that provides "equal access". Do you not agree? It seems to me that computer literacy and a sense of community are both valid functions of a library.

And, really, if it's a choice between ten multi-function libraries or zero book-only libraries (the twenty being shut down when community support dried up), I'll go with the ten multi-function. Would I rather have twenty multi-function library? Without a doubt. But then, I would also rather have the body of a 20-year-old athlete and a multimillionaire husband who always believes that I am right.
