@pfloyd - the key issue is that the Kindle only sorts alphabetically - such as Titles, Authors - or by Most Recent access dates. What you probably want to do is to use Calibre settings to modify the Title to include the Series number in the Title and then when the titles are sorted alphabetically the series will be in order.
