The only thing that will cause me to buy a newer Kindle is a significant screen quality improvement. Otherwise, my K3 is 'mission accomplished' for ebooks.

Me too. We have and use an Aztak EZ reader, original Nook 3g, my Samsung Vibrant running my beloved Aldiko and my Kindle 3G.
I never thought I would be a Kindle girl and I mean never.
But the contrast is a huge improvement over my Nook and the Astak, I thought I would love touch navigation but I really didn't, too imprecise. I love the keyboard. LOVE it.
The only thing I dislike about both the Nook and the Kindle is DRM but problem solved and I shop at both and put what I buy on the Kindle to my hearts content.
Aldiko is my, bar none, favorite interface but I dislike reading for any length of time on the lcd screen and it kills my battery. I use it mostly when my dh wants to go to sleep and I don't.
For the foreseeable future, I can't imagine an ereader that makes me happier.
