I have had this problem as well with both of my Kindles (one 6 months old/one new). After plugging in my new Kindle yesterday evening due to indexing, it was still loading (orange LED) this morning. The battery-icon showed almost full (there was a tiny little space not yet full). I plugged it on the USB of my work-computer and within a few minutes the LED turned green and the battery icon showed fully charged.
The same thing happened with my older kindle using the same USB cable. So I think it might be either the Amazon wallcharger OR the USB cable which is defective. I will try loading either of my Kindles with the new USB cable and see if this changes anything.
