Just thought of one - apologies if its been mentioned already.
I can't stand when writers are too lazy to do even the most cursory research into specific subject matters they are writing about, especially those subjects that many people would likely have expertise with.
e.g.
- [non science fiction] writers who totally screw up stuff like how computers work, and what they can or cannot do;
- writing about pool players, tennis, baseball, <insert your hobby/pasttime here> when you have clearly never even spent an hour doing it;
- related: total non-familiarity with the lingo for stuff like the above.
You get the idea...
