Hey, just a quick followup:
We got the iPod last week, and braced ourselves for needing to immediately return it.
It was in great condition, so we tried it out. All but one* of of the apps my daughter uses worked fine, and while, load times were indeed slower than the 4G, it wasn't a problem.
So we gave it to my daughter on her birthday and got her a little pink silicone case in a discount store (old-generation stuff is dirt cheap!) and the Apple store put one of our spare screen protectors on it. She loves it!
So I guess we're keeping it. :-)
By the time she out grows it or wants a particular game system, I figure a whole new generation of stuff will have come and gone.
Thanks for all the comments!
*by the way, the one app that didn't work was the interactive Going to Bed Book.
Which is really weird...can't understand, of all things, why that would require the newer hardware.
And I'm not counting apps that require a camera. Obviously we didn't expect any of those work on a device without a camera, so she'll still have to borrow her mom's when she wants to make funny faces or put her face on a princess body.....fair enough.
