I downloaded "Nook for PC" and that worked fine.
The latest on my B&N tech support saga:
On my fourth attempt at getting an answer from B&N, I got an e-mail from them saying that the NC doesn't hide files and that I should try a factory re-set.
I wasn't upset that the two people at my local store didn't know, but it's sad that B&N's own tech support can't answer the question correctly.
