Integrated dryer are justified only by space limitations. One can put the dryer over the washing machine, though.
The idea is that if one breaks down you have to get that one fixed or dumped and not the other one. Smart eh? They sell you a gadget to keep them together, one on top of the other, with a retractable thing where you can put stuff on. Make sure that the doors open correctly with regard of one to the other.
