Kovid,
I have had no luck at all with the Optane fonts - I am really only interested in the compact font. They are provided in format that has the extention .fam. The Mac is happy tp have the .fam files installed and extracts the fonts, which are suppose to be truetype, from them. I also have been able to extract them with the utility fondu and the extracted files have the extention .ttf - indicating that they are, indeed truetype. Finally I ran them through FontForge regenerating them as truetype fonts. Nothing seems to make a difference.

I did note a file naming error in that the files extracted from the OptaneExtraBold.fam had the same name as the regular and the italic files did from the Optane.fam. But this was only in the external file name. The internal file names were correct and FontForge correctly named the processed files. I will make a .zip file and send them to you.

Meanwhile I am going to revert my Mac to OS 10.4.11 and see if that makes a difference. All I have to do is find the external disk with the older OS on it.
