I was having problems, when I tried converting an .epub into a .mobi; the conversion aborted with an error message "Key error..."

I had the idea to try the following, which ended up doing the conversion perfectly:

First I converted the .epub file to the .lit format, then converted the .lit file to .mobi !

End of problem, all pleased.
