as I understand it the eink works very much like one of those magnetic kids toys where you draw with a magnet and the filings under the screen stick to the screen to make a picture. when you clear the picture you shake the screen. With eink the pixles have two poles one pole is grey the other black when the current goes through the screen it forms the image by turning the appropiate pixles black and leaving the others grey. The ghosting (a minor issue for me as I dint notice much at all when I was playing with the display unit) is kind of like doing a partial shake on the kids toy and the full refress is like doing a thoughough shake. the full refresh puts all the pixles to grey and then the appropriate ones to black?
