Kindle 3G now available over the counter in South Africa
For any of the growing number of Kindle aficionados in South Africa (but only if they have more money than sense), the retail chain Makro has just announced it is now selling the Kindle 3G model only, over the counter from its various branches nationwide.
The bad news is the mark-up for the 'convenience' of not having to order it online at Amazon's current all-in price of around US$ 230 and about a week for delivery: R2499, which at the current exchange rate is about US$ 367!
Given that US giant Walmart has just bought Makro's parent company, we can only hope that such siliness gradually diminishes over time....
